Privacy Policy

Overview

Insight is a macOS app that listens to your meetings and shows you glanceable AI insights. It is built to keep your meetings private: audio never leaves your Mac, we operate no servers, and we have no accounts, analytics, or databases. This policy explains exactly what the app touches and the one place meeting content can go — the AI provider you connect yourself.

Information We Collect

Audio: Insightcaptures your microphone and your Mac's system audio only while a session is running — you start and stop it explicitly. Audio is transcribed on your device by a local speech model and processed in memory; the app does not save audio recordings, and audio is never uploaded anywhere.

Transcripts: The resulting text transcript is held on your device during a session so the app can reason over the conversation (a running summary, the most recent turns, and the insights already shown). Text excerpts of this transcript are sent to the AI provider you choose, as described below.

API Keys: Your AI provider API key is stored in the macOS Keychain. We never see, transmit, or store it — the app uses it only to authenticate directly with your chosen provider.

Usage Data: None. The app uses no analytics or tracking, collects no personal information, and requires no account or registration.

Third-Party Services

Your AI provider (Anthropic or Groq): To generate insights, the app periodically sends text prompts — containing excerpts of your meeting transcript, its running summary, and prior insights — directly to the provider you configured, using your own API key. Audio stays local, but meeting content does reach that provider as text, under Anthropic's privacy policy or Groq's privacy policy. We are not a party to that relationship and never receive this data. In Offline mode, no meeting content is sent anywhere.

Software updates (GitHub): The app checks a GitHub-hosted feed for updates and downloads them from GitHub when you approve. Like any web request, this reveals your IP address and the app version to GitHub. We collect no update analytics.

Data Storage

Everything the app stores stays on your Mac: your API key in the Keychain, your preferences in the app's standard preferences, and — if you enable it — meeting summary files written locally to the app's Summaries folder. Transcripts are held in memory for the session. We operate no backend and store none of your data.

Data Security

API keys use macOS Keychain encryption. All provider and update traffic is HTTPS only. The app maintains no servers or databases, so there is nothing of yours for us to lose.

Your Responsibilities

Insighttranscribes conversations, and recording laws vary — many places require every participant's consent. You are responsible for obtaining any required consent before starting a session. See the Terms of Service for details.

Your Rights

Your data is under your control on your own device: remove your API key in Settings or Keychain Access, delete saved summaries from the Summaries folder, and uninstall the app to remove everything else. Information requests can be sent to the contact email below. All data is device-local, so there is nothing for us to export or delete on your behalf.

Children's Privacy

The app is intended for professional use by adults and doesn't knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

Policy updates are posted with new dates, and the app will ask you to re-review material changes before continuing. Continued use constitutes acceptance of changes.
